These lapis lazuli beads are from Afganistan. They are medium-grade dark blue with visible specks of golden pyrite. The highest grade of lapis is royal blue( almost purple) with no signs of inclusion. Due to the high price of high-grade lapis and the variety of imitations out there, many people nowadays prefer the medium quality like the ones here for sale. These strands are genuine dark blue with a glimpse of gold pyrite throughout the strand. These pieces are actually a little bigger than 8mm, about 8.2mm. The total gram weight is 45 per strand.
